Treatment of Lymphoma

Based on the type of lymphoma, your oncologist will select the regimen for you. Before starting chemo treatment you may be placed on a drug called allopurinol. This drug will prevent the formation of
uric acid, which is a toxic acid particularly to the kidney. When you start on chemo the cancer cells will disolve very fast and will produce massive amounts of uric acid. It is important to take allopurinol and to follow the recommendations of treatment carefully.
